Great Meat made a great night

Last night, 5 of us got together and cooked a French Roast that we bought for $22.
We placed the meat in the oven and set the oven temperature to broil. We cooked each side  for 18 min.
You can see the results below.

In conclusion: The best American feedlot (grain-fed) meats is inferior to the Uruguay natural grain-finish meats.

Ground Beef vs. Ground Bison

Grass-fed beef and other grass-fed ruminant meats such as bison contains as much, or even higher levels of omega-3 fatty acids than wild salmon, but without the possible negatives such as heavy metals (mercury, etc) and PCBs that can be found in fish frequently.

However, bison meat will cost you more. In addition, according to our customers, grass-fed beef tastes better and is easier to BBQ.

It has been my experience that one cannot BBQ bison meat without a thermometer while holding a beer in one hand and trying to explain the Tebow phenomenon to a mother-in-law.

In conclusion, fire up the gril and add Tevya’s grass-fed meat for a good tasting result that will not break the bank.

Move over chicken.

Grassfed beef is best!

What is the healthiest meat you can eat? A nice, lean chicken breast from your supermarket? Think again. Meat from a pasture-fed cow has about the same of total fat as the chicken breast, but more omega-3acids and CLA and less cholesterol. It’s a healthier package overall.

These findings come from a comprehensive study published just this year in the Journal of Animal Science.

Where’s the REAL Beef?

How do you provide you and your family with high quality animal protein?

If you think you are going to get it by going to your local health food stores, think again. Nearly 100% of the beef sold in health food stores is not “real” beef. Even though it may be organic, the cattle are fed grains and grains are NOT what cattle are designed to eat.

REAL Beef Eat Grass — Not Grains

The fat content of beef is the primary reason it has lost ground as a respectable entrée on America’s dinner table. Not only do most beef cuts have a high fat content, ranging from 35-75%, but the majority of it is saturated.

“Grain fed beef can have an omega 6:3 ratio higher than 20:1” — J. Anim. Sci. 2000. 78:2849-2855

This well exceeds the 4:1 ratio where health problems begin to show up because of the essential fat imbalance. Also grain fed beef can have over 50% of the total fat as the far less healthy saturated fat.

Grass fed beef has an omega 6:3 ratio of 0.16 to 1

This is the ratio science suggests is ideal for our diet. This is about the same ratio that fish has. Grass fed beef usually has less than 10% of its fat as saturated. If you are a pregnant or breastfeeding mom, the extra omega 3 from the grass fed beef will provide incredible nutritional benefits for your child.
